Translation import crashes storyline

I designed 4 modules to be translated into 10 languages. The first nine languages translated perfectly using export/import .xlf files. Today I received the Italian .xlf files and all 4 modules crash immediately at translation/import. Where do I begin to troubleshoot what may be causing this or do I just open a case and submit the files? We used the same translation service for all 10 languages. Thanks
