Logo Translation
A question has arisen from one of my clients this morning as to whether or not we should translate the logo for our program to Spanish, as we are creating a Spanish version of the online training to run concurrently with the English version. Have any of you encountered this in the past? Is it typical to translate a logo (that contains wording) into the other language? I’m seeing various opinions online, so I don’t want to jump the gun on this.

As with many questions, the answer is "it depends."
- Aside from the company name, how much wording is in the logo?
- How recognizable are the name and tagline likely to be with the expected audience if they aren't translated?
- Is the text translated elsewhere?
- What do the company's "logo police" say? (There may be standards established by the marketing folks and/or the legal folks.)
You're seeing various options online because there are various answers to those questions. Work with your client to figure out the best option for them.
