Transparent image for motion path not showing

Am I doing something wrong? The transparent image for a motion path is not always showing when the motion path is selected? 

I am trying to have text slide across the screen but I can't see where it is landing making the process take much longer than necessary. 

The transparent image seems to work for shapes but not for my textboxes. Example images attached.

    Thank you for reaching out!

    When working with text boxes and motion paths, here's a little trick: add an outline to the textbox. When you move the red dot (end point), it will show the shape of where the textbox will be.

    You can then remove the outline once the placement is correct.
