Try Again/Quiz Data in Storyline

Hello,

I am trying to figure out if the try again branch on quiz questions have any way of being tracked in quiz activity, they cannot provide any scores and I have the attempts set as unlimited.

I want/need to be able to see how many times a learner attempts the same question within a single take of the quiz but unsure how to set that up correctly?

  • Hi Cameron!

It sounds like you are trying to track all attempts a learner makes when answering quiz questions in your Storyline 360 course. I'd be happy to share some insight on that!

One way to achieve this would be to:

    1. Set up a counter system on the question slide.
    2. Store the value of this counter to a variable.
    3. Send the variable data to an LMS for reporting.

Also, here's an article that lists all of the quiz data Storyline sends to an LMS.

Thanks for reaching out! Please let me know if you have any more questions!

      Hi Steven,

Thanks for this information. Using this and a few other helpful threads I seem to be able to add a counter variable, reset the slide after the try again button and keep the counter working. The one thing I am not now sure of is how to find the VALID URN when creating the AXPI statement? for this custom variable?

(Apologise if this is a dumb question)

        Hello Cameron,

        Happy to help!

That field should automatically populate if you follow the instructions here

        • One way to fill in the values for the en-US and id fields for your xAPI statement is to select an object (e.g., slide, object, or custom text) for your verb in the trigger wizard before clicking the + xAPI link.

Try highlighting an object before adding a trigger and let me know if you see a value for the 'id' field. Doing so should generate something like this in the statement editor window:
