Variable Issues (Showing Individual Results on Summary Slide)
Good day y'all - I am stuck on an issue with variable naming that is preventing me from replicating the solutions discussed here and here. For this activity, there are three separate results slides (one at the end of three separate segments), and I am trying to create a single summary slide that shows the three different results:
Segment 1 | Segment 2 | Segment 3 |
Results (Pass/Fail) | Results (Pass/Fail) | Results (Pass/Fail) |
The issue here is that both the solutions I found seem to use sequential variables (Results1.Score...Results2.Score... etc.) that are either auto-generated or manually created. Each time I try to edit the variable to report the appropriate result I get an error because the preloaded variable (Results.Score...) has a dot in the middle of it.
While the approach that both solutions recommend makes sense, the examples include this sequentially numbered variables for each of the separate results slides. There seems to be something I am tripping over here, but I am not sure what. Any guidance appreciated!

Hi, Joe.
Thank you for sharing the .story file!
It looks like you duplicated your Results slide in all three sections. When you duplicate them, Storyline doesn't automatically create the separate built-in variables (Results1.ScorePoints, Results2.ScorePoints, etc.).
My suggestion to you is the following:
- Recreate the Results slides for the second and third sections (the first one is working).
- Once you have the built-in variables, you can reference them on your final slide (1.2 - Project Review):
Let me know if this works!

Thanks Maria! I had noted that path earlier but had not taken it yet. (-:
Well, now we're someplace different. One of the other two scenarios did exactly what was needed - I created a new Results slide and the variable incremented correctly. But when I did the second scenario, it failed to increment. See the attachment.
What now?

Hi, Joe.
Thank you for the update!
I'm not sure I can tell it from the screenshot: are you saying you didn't get the Results2 built-in variables?
Do you have the updated .story file? I'm happy to take a look!

Thanks Maria - What I was trying to show was that for some reason, SL was incrementing one of three scenes with the autonumbering, but the other one was not doing it - so I had two instances of "Results.ScorePercent" instead of "Results1.ScorePercent" and "Results2.ScorePercent."
I was able to get the necessary result by inserting additional Results slides, and then I deleted the incorrect ones (that still used the duplicated "Results.ScorePercent" variable). But then the file went kerflooey - I saved it, but the variables *all* reverted to "Results.ScorePercent" in each scene.
So I had to re-insert two more Results slides and leave the bad ones (I tried deleting them but the story file reverted again). So there's unused slides in the story, and it published OK, but I'm wondering what's going on with that particular built-in variable.
Here's the entire story. The two unused but apparently necessary slides are at the end of scenes 2 and 3 (though they are the second and third scenarios for the user, the first scenario ended up as scene 4?).

@Maria - PS: Please delete the file when you have downloaded it

Hi, Joe.
Thank you for sharing the .story file!
You can go ahead and remove the files from your posts, and I'll email you the edited version, so it's through a private channel.
I was able to delete the "extra" Results slides, so your project should work as expected now.
You can reply to my email if you have additional questions!
