video controls not working in Articulate Online
Hi there,
I am using Storyline 3 and have inserted mp4 videos into my project. The video controls work when I publish to the web but not when I publish to the Articulate Online LMS. Is there a setting that I need to adjust?
Thank you

Hey Lianne,
Curious what behavior you are experiencing when you say the controls are not working?
Are you finding that the video is starting over? I do see that an issue has been submitted for that, but wanted to confirm.

Hi there,
Yes, it goes back to the beginning, can only pause and start the video.

Thanks for confirming Lianne.
This is an open issue that we are working on.
The only listed workaround we have right now is:
- Enable the player seekbar and use it as an alternative.
I'm attaching this thread to the report as we track user impact and we can update you here when we can as well.
I wanted to share some information on how we define bugs and how we tackle them when they occur.

Thank you Leslie, I enabled the seek bar and it works!
That's great news Lianne. Thanks for letting me know.

Actually, I have been testing more and sadly it isn't...:(
I have the video set to play automatically but am wondering if a clicked or
triggered option would make a difference. (I looked at it but can't see how
it can be done with the seek bar)Lianne

I am wondering if it work if launched in a new window?
Hi Lianne! Did you remove the video controls under the video and enable the player seekbar?
If so, can you tell me more about how that didn't work for you? If you can share a link to your file in Articulate Online, that would be helpful!

Hi there,
I did try a number of things, removed the video controls, open in a new
window, etc...but here is the link to a test file:Thank you for all your help with this.

Hi Lianne!
I'm having trouble viewing your content using the link you sent. Instead, can you send me the link from the Invite Tab like the one I've shown below? Thanks!

Hi there,
I have removed that file as I am piloting he modules as of today...is there
a way I can upload the file to the LMS but only have you be able to view it?Lianne
Hi Lianne! You can use this form to share your content with us privately. You can include the original .story file as an attachment, and share the URL to the output in the description field.
Hi Lianne,
I don't have a timeframe for when it may work with Chrome, as it's a relatively low impact issue. We'll keep you posted here if there are any other updates but in the meantime, I'd suggest using either of the options you mentioned about removing the video controls altogether or letting Chrome users know about this possible issue.

Hi
Just checking if there is any update on the time frame for when it will work in Chrome?
Hello Shafiq,
Thanks for reaching out to follow up. I do not have a timeframe to share.
We show that this issue is specific to HTML5 output when viewing in Articulate Online with Google Chrome. Is that what you are experiencing as well?

Hi there,
Thank you so much for your continued feedback. I am still playing around
with it but do have a critical question...I have the one file with a Story
size of 1550 x 768 and I want to add a second scene from a file that was
done at 1280 x 720...so I need to change one so that they are the same...is
it as simple as just changing the size ratio and re-saving?Thank you,
Hi Lianne,
When you import in the smaller project, we'll use the story size you've already set so you may need to move items around on the slide to account for it.
You could also change the story size before importing, and since you're increasing the slide size you can choose between these options:
- Scale to Fit: This scales existing slide content to fit proportionately within the new size. Objects that have locked aspect ratios will maintain their ratios. Objects that don't have locked aspect ratios may change shape, depending on the slide size you choose. (Learn more about locking aspect ratios.)
- Fill Background: This keeps the current slide background and applies it to the new size, but it doesn't resize your slide content. If you choose this option, use the corresponding Story Position drop-down to choose where existing content should appear on your slides.
Hope that helps!
