Video embedded in video

Hi there, I would appreciate a lot your help in this matter. I have a storyline project with one video embedded in a slide. Now I need to publish the whole story as a video (so a video containing a video!). So here is my probably (!) silly question: is there any way to add any variable or trigger in the embeded video to make it stop if the user want to when the video of the story is displayed? Of course the control buttons of the embedded video are not displayed when publishing the story... as a video! Tks folks!

  • Sylvie,

If I am not mistaken, the embedded video won't play if you publish it to video. It will appear as shown below.

You will be able to play videos you insert from the content library or from a file.  In these cases, the video player that opens the MP4 will provide controls to start, stop, and pause the video.

Tks Richard, but my tests show that it is not working when a video is embedded in a story published as a video. Only the control buttons of the main video are displayed, not the ones of the embedded.

        Sylvie,

As Joe states below, embedded videos (like the one I am showing in the image above) are not included in the published output.  I hope this all makes sense! One way you could make this work would be to use a tool like Camtasia to capture your screen, including the embedded video, and produce it as an MP4.

  • Hi Sylvie,

    Happy to help!

Embedded videos aren't included in the published output because these are videos that are hosted on third-party sites and are not actually downloaded to the course. If you want a video to be included in your published output, you'll need to add the video from a file instead.
