Vimeo Block not working when published as a web page!

When publishing a Rise course containing a multimedia block with a Vimeo file embedded, the Vimeo file is not found and shows as a blank window. This includes the Vimeo file that Rise includes as the default placeholder. It displays correctly in Rise and Review 360, but does not show at all when published as a web page. I've filed a support ticket, but it is not yet resolved. The example below shows how it looks in Rise 360 and Review 360, followed by how it looks when published as a web page:

  • Hi Dan,

Thanks so much for reaching out!

I see that you've opened a case and that you're working with my colleague Chester. You're in great hands!

We'll continue the conversation over in your case.

    Have a wonderful afternoon!

  • Hi Luciana,

While I appreciate your reply and confidence in Chester, it's been several days since I filed the support ticket, and I have not yet heard anything. I have an eLearning platform set for release to thousands of students in the next couple weeks, and yet have NO resolution to this new bug in your platform.

Can you please follow-up with Chester and ask him to continue the conversation and address the issue, as you stated in your reply? Or is there anyone else who is available to help out and escalate this issue? Please help!

    Thank you,
    Dan

      Hi Dan!

Sorry to hear about this setback! Happy to help!

Reviewing your support case, it looks like you connected with Chester on the 11th, and shared examples of the issue you are facing. I'll update your case with the feedback you shared, letting Chester know the matter is urgent. He should be following up with you again shortly!

      Thank you for your patience!

Dan, it looks like the iframe is working correctly, but the media file isn't loading. Have you tried uploading to a web server and testing it there? I've had instances with media files not loading when viewing on my local computer, but will work when its on a web server.

  • Phil - I did as you suggested and it actually works off my web server - just not locally. Not that I understand why, but this helps tremendously. Thank you!!

Great, here's a nerdy explanation why- the video file is getting pulled from another web server that might be https:// or http:// but their code specifies neither, so it will properly inherit whatever the parent web page is using. Usually a good thing. But on your computer, its neither https or http, so nothing loads.
