Rise Reflection Block Builder

I previously shared an example of a course that includes Reflection blocks that allow the learner to respond to reflection questions that are compiled and can be printed in a Reflection log at the end of the course.

Here's a shorter version of that with just the reflection blocks (FYI, you'll see a light RPG/Fantasy theme in the wording, which is a theme of my content).

Reflection Block Example

After receiving requests for the code and how it works, I created a Rise Reflection Block Builder tool because I recognize that not everyone knows HTML well enough to make the necessary updates between reflections, and I wanted something to just make it easier for me as well as you.

There are four tabs on the tool:

  • How It Works - describes how the system works, the different block types, how the data flows and is stored, and a recommended workflow. There are options to include an image... or not.
  • Customization - This allows you to assign a name to your Reflection Log (I call mine "Quest Log"), set the label, and set your brand colors.
  • Plan All Blocks - This is where the real work is done. You can plan all of your reflection blocks at once, click a link to grab the code, and go back and adjust if needed.
  • Build a Reflection Log - once all of the reflection questions have been completed, this is where you build the final output that can be printed. You'll import the tracker from the Plan All Blocks tab and copy the code.

I hope you'll try it out and let me know what you think!

Great resource, thank you! There is an issue with preview in mobile preview vertical.

For the broken character image- did you provide a public link to the image you'd like to have there? If you plan to use the zip file method, you won't be able to see the character preview.

That said, I'm not sure how practical the mobile view will be, other than using it to preview. I don't think you'll be able to do anything with the code generated on the phone since you need a desktop browser to create the code block.

Please do let me know what settings you used, and I'll check to see if something needs to be updated.

      Thanks!

        Super speedy reply PrplJennifer!

I didn't add a a character, as I have a Vyond asset I want to use. How can I remove that broken character image?

And sadly you are correct, I need to to be usable across computer and phones, so wont be able to use it.

Thank you though, it is a good set up if only a computer is needed for the user.

What a great tool and design! I've been working on creating reflection blocks and a tool to share as well, but hadn't quite gotten to the save and print phase. One thing I'd recommend, which keeps me from being able to use this at the moment, is to allow customizations to fonts - font face and color, especially. Depending on which of the colors from my organization's palate I use, it fails WCAG contrast requirements on the button (white on green using hex #78BE21). My eyes aren't the greatest when it comes to fonts, but it does look like it uses the standard Open Sans that's the Rise default?

I love the tool and definitely see this as a great option for future iterations of the course I currently have with reflection questions. Kudos!
