Add blank slides to your quiz for non-question content, such as introductions, summaries, and supplemental information. And if you decide you want to convert a blank slide into a question, you can do that, too.

Adding Blank Slides

To add a blank slide to your quiz, do any of the following:

  • In Question List View, go to the Home tab on the ribbon and click Blank Slide. A new slide will be added to the question list after the currently selected slide. If no slides are selected, the new slide will be added to the end of the list.
  • In Slide View, go to the Insert tab on the ribbon and click Blank Slide. A new blank slide will be added after the currently selected slide and open in Slide View.
  • In Form View, go to the Home tab on the ribbon and click Blank Slide. A new blank slide will be added after the currently selected slide and open in Slide View. (Blank slides don’t have a Form View.)

After adding a blank slide, you can add content, apply animations, and set timings.

Adding Feedback to Blank Slides

By default, blank slides don't have feedback, but you can add it. Here's how:

  1. In Slide View, click Edit Feedback in the Question panel on the right side of the screen.
  2. When the Feedback window opens, add text, audio, and/or branching.
  3. Click OK.

When you add feedback to a blank slide, Articulate Quizmaker adds a Thank You layer to the Feedback Layers panel in the lower right corner of the screen.

Use the feedback layer to customize how your feedback looks, or use feedback masters to give all your feedback layers a consistent design throughout your quiz.

Showing Blank Slides in Quiz Review

You have the option to include blank slides in quiz review. Just mark the box to Show in quiz review in the Question panel on the right side of the screen. Uncheck the box to hide it from quiz review.

To enable the review feature for your quiz, see Editing the Result Slide.

Converting Blank Slides to Freeform Questions

Here’s how to convert a blank slide to a question slide:

  1. Click Convert to Freeform in the Question panel on the right side of the screen.
  2. Click the thumbnail image for the type of question you want to use.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Quizmaker will convert the slide into a question and automatically switch to Form View where you can customize the question’s properties. See these user guides for details:

If you change your mind and want to revert back to a non-question slide, do either of the following:

  • In Slide View, go to the Insert tab on the ribbon and click Remove Freeform.
  • In Form View, go to the Home tab on the ribbon and click Remove Freeform.
