Translating text-to-speech in Storyline
Hi, I have a Storyline file that includes text-to-speech audio. I need to get this files translated but the text-to-speech does not appear in the translation Word file (not tested with XLIFF). Is there something I'm missing? My work around would be to put the script into the Notes (which is not ideal) but I was wondering if anybody else had a better solution. When I export an xlf or xliff file from a Rise course and then drop it into the DeepL translator (Pro version), it displays an error message: Course Title.xlf This file couldn’t be translated due to a technical issue. (unsupported_document_version) Anybody know why this happens or knows of a workaround? Thanks.RISE/Storyline free translation?
When will translations/AI be free features? I have had the chance to demo 3 different authoring products in the past 48 hours that include AI assist and Translation either free or very minimal cost compared to Articulate. When will you look to move to this to remain competitive? I am currently evaluating tools that will more closely meet our needs and at the moment the platform is lacking - I have been a big supporter of Storyline from way back in the BETA testing days and would like to stay with Articulate, but the market is certainly offering a lot more of what I need for less cost. Granted some of these tools do align more with RISE in terms of the feature set (which would certainly tick MANY boxes for what we need at the moment) but I would like to think Articulate are able to show that they lead the market in having access to translation/AI features as standard not as an expensive addition.Extracting text from scorm packages
Hello, I've built a script that extracts the text from a course by loading up und.js or en.js files found in the locales folder (locales folder can be found in scormcontent folder). What I've seen is, not all scorm packages have a "locales" folder inside "scormcontent" folder. I'm curious if this is a bug or if it has something to do with the Language Localization. What influences the absence of "locales" folder from "scormcontent" folder ? Thanks :)Switch languages from within Rise 360 course using Articulate Localization
Hi! We have used Articulate localization to translate our course into 5 languages. We then export to one SCORM package that contains all of the languages. We use that SCORM file in 2 LMS's. In Litmos, the user is presented with the language, they choose the content and off they go. If they decide they want to go back and choose English instead (it's technical content, this is common), they simply exit and go back in and they'll have the option to choose the language again. It keeps track of where they were, just presents in the new chosen language. All works great. In Thinkific, once again the user is presented with the language choice when first entering the course. However, whatever language they choose "sticks." There is no way to switch to a different language if they accidentally chose the wrong one or want to go back to English. When they exit and come back in, they come back in in the same language with no option to choose another one. Is there a way to present the option to switch languages from within the course? I'm using Rise 360, not Storyline. I found this previous article, but I think it's meant for Storyline? I’m coming across 2 separate but related challenges when localizing. The first challenge is slide duration. As you can see in the attached screenshot, the English-language audio has >10 seconds of silence at the end, because the Romanian version of that audio (for example) is longer. The 2 audios are “connected” and the longer audio is driving slide duration. The second challenge is that because the Romanian version is longer, the animations that are timed to the English version (e.g. ovals 1/2/3 in screenshot) are not timed well for Romanian. I think that one solution is creating separate layers for each language: basically duplicating the base layer of every slide for each language, and displaying them using the language trigger condition. But I think this solution will end up having some limitations. Another path I’m considering is that maybe I have to export each language as a separate course, and then manage each course separately. (really don’t want to manage 9 different courses). Thoughts on these ideas, or any other ideas are greatly appreciated.
