Badges Levels Points - Gamification

Hi,

I would like to create a game with storyline. Is it possible to utilize quizzing and the results pages to keep track of 'points'? How can I feed the points from multiple iterations of published storyline stories to a database to then be made public for all users? As they complete a level (a story) I would like those points to be fed to a database that then tallies them up and badges are awarded.

How could I keep track of points within a LMS? (I think that it would be possible for a user to keep track of his or her points via scorm or tin kan, but the user would not see other users' points).

How could I keep track of points without the use of an LMS?

I appreciate your ideas. Hopefully there is a relatively simple solution.
