Not sure how long this has been a bug but all 3 of our developers are seeing this: If you put the triangle call out on a caption shape on the left side the drop shadow stops rendering half way out. This ONLY happens when you position the triangle on the left side of the caption shape. See attached.
Hi there, Curtis. I can see that the shadow doesn't render properly in Preview or in HTML5 output. It works in Flash output.
I'll get this behavior documented for our team to investigate. Thanks so much for pointing it out! I'll let you know any new information I get as soon as I can.
Thanks for reaching out, and I'm sorry you ran into this!
This bug is still open in Storyline 3. I'll share your experience and keep you posted on its status. If you can share the file with us in the meantime, we're happy to take a look and offer more tailored support!
Note: Our process for developing Storyline 3 updates is different than it is for Storyline 360, so we aren’t able to keep them in sync. We do occasionally release fixes between updates, but that can introduce risks so we undertake that only in limited circumstances.
It sounds like this issue might've reappeared! We'd be happy to work through this with you and confirm if this is a regression. We are now on Storyline 360 (Build 3.51.24979.0), and I do not see any reports of this bug where the shadow doesn't render on caption when the pointer is on the left side.
My first recommendation is to update Storyline 360, so you are using the latest version of the software. Secondly, are you seeing this in every project or a specific project? Lastly, if you can share a Peek of what you see on your end, that would be very helpful!
Once I get these details, I'll gather with my team to determine the next steps.
Side note: When using Peek and choosing to record an application, I will be limited to recording only a small part of the screen (see attached). This can be amended by disconnecting external screen(s) and just using the laptop (or selecting option to record full screen).
I tested this in Storyline 360 (Build 3.51.24979.0) and saw the same results, so I've logged this as a regression with my team, and we'll keep you updated in this discussion!
I am experiencing this bug in the latest version of Storyline 360, except that it's also happening when the caption leader line is pointing left or up. The developers on our team are also seeing the same thing.
Thanks so much for providing this information to our team. I see you've connected with my teammate, Darrell, on this as well. We'll be sure to update you if we have news to share. In the meantime, please don't hesitate to reach out with additional questions!
So sorry to hear you've also been affected by this issue!
I've included your feedback in the bug report being tracked and will update this discussion as soon as a fix is in place. In the meantime, another community member shared a workaround you may find useful.
Thank you for your patience, and I'm sorry if this has been slowing you down!

Hi Curtis,
I am happy to share that the issue where shadows were not rendering on caption when the pointer is on the left side has been resolved!
The next step is to update Storyline 360 by heading to your Articulate 360 desktop app and clicking "Update" next to Storyline.
If the problem reappears, please let us know! We are happy to help!
Hi Vincent,
I am using the latest version of Storyline 3, not 360, and I am seeing this issue. Will this also be fixed in Storyline 3?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi,
Any update on this? I'm on v 3.49 and still experiencing this issue.
Thanks,
Rikard

Hi Lauren,
I've updated to latest version of Storyline and I've created multiple projects to see if the shadow bug persist - it does. Here's a Peek: https://360.articulate.com/review/content/78c72195-4e75-45f2-8b43-57fe38a63cf6/review

Many thanks for you help!

Heya. I'm also seeing this bug. I'm on SL360 3.79 (I downgraded from the latest version to avoid another bug).
Fun* times using Storyline to make a living :D
