Does Storyline send Survey answers to the LMS?

I have a client who would like to ask a few short answer/essay questions in the course, and then be able to pull those answers from the LMS. Can I use survey questions? Would it be better to use a quiz question?

Side question: Is there an example or list of all the data storylines from a SCORM 2004, 4th edition package to an LMS? Is there a place I could pull this information myself to look at it?

Thanks!

  • Thank you Maria! I wasn't sure if Storyline treated Survey questions like Quiz questions. This is just what I needed.

  • Hello!

I have read the info in the links above but they don't any my question yet.  Looking to have survey questions in a course and be able to pull those answers from the LMS.  We use SCORM 1.2 and the LMS is Dayforce.  Anyone able to help please?

  • Hello Maria,

Storyline sends "z,z,z" in the LearnerResponse field to the LMS for a Multi Response question. The presence of 'z' doesn't seem relevant to us, as the answer choices do not begin with that letter, as another user mentioned in a previous chat. Additionally, the CorrectResponse field also contains 'z' (four choices, four 'Z's).

We need to determine if the learner's answer is 'a,' 'b,' 'c,' or 'd.' Is there a configuration adjustment needed in either Storyline or our LMS to address this?

  • Hi there, Omaira,

Thanks so much for reaching out and sharing what you are experiencing.

Just to clarify, are you experiencing this when viewing in SCORM Cloud? Also, could you please share what LMS you are currently using?

Looking forward to hearing from you! ✨

  • Thanks Luciana!

Actually, that information is from the report that Rustici generated for us. Our LMS is Cornerstone.

Also, Luciana, I noticed that the correct and learner responses fields in the lessons created with Rise are populated with the first letter of the question's choices. For example, if the choices start with a), b), and c), the field will populated with a,b,c. But, if the choices begin with Yellow, Red, and Blue, the fields will be populated with Y, R, a

I'm adding some images of the report for your understanding.

  • Thanks for sharing this information, Omaira! I appreciate it!

I'd like to replicate this behavior on my end. Please feel free to upload your .story file to this thread or privately in a support case so we can investigate this further!

If you have any other questions in the meantime, just let me know!
