How can user keep copy of their input?

I'd like the user to be able to keep a digital copy of their text entry.

So I need to send a text variable somewhere....

• Print window/slide is not suitable because it's not digital
• Email does not work because all users use webmail, which does not seem to work with SL
• LMS does not work because users don't have access to LMS reports
• Tried a javascript method to save to a text file but I don't think it works for Mac users (most of my users use Macs)

I'd love to give users a button - which saves/emails a copy of their work.

It seems a simple thing but I can't figure out a method.
