Multiply Blend mode for images does not work as expected (possible Feature Request)

blend mode

I was hoping that when I applied the Multiply Blend mode to an image that it would apply to the image itself and not just to the Blend color. In the example above, I have a solid a yellow png and the Blend color is #FFFFFF. I want this to behave as it would in Photoshop where the image's data would affect the image below it (shading it yellow but keeping the intensity.) Instead the image is still opaque and the Blend Mode only affects the actual image (multiplying #FFFFFF and leaving the image unchanged) - which isn't very helpful for my need.
Is there any way of achieving this affect in SL? I don't want to add a semi transparent shape over my content as that does not keep the intensity. So yellow shape over black text would make the text yellowish gray which I do not want.
