Newbie with questions about Storyline freelancing, contract

Feb 21, 2013

I'm an educational writer with over 25 years of experience in developing, designing, and writing for a wide range of clients including museums, businesses, K-12 publishers, college publishers, and Web publishers.  Over the last few years, I've built a fairly hefty list of projects and clients in e-learning and instructional design (www.lisajorudy.com).  I've developed many interactive, multimedia products, created assessments of all sorts ("natural," Boom's Taxonomy-based, simple MC/quiz, and many others), and worked with guidelines from various different states as well as national "core curriculum."

With all that experience, however, have no "official" credentialing in ID. I didn't dive in because it wasn't clear what product(s) were with the investment, especially since I do get clients without having those credentials or even owning the software.

Most recently, however, I completed a set of scenario-based storyboards for a client, focused on Web design and intended for middle/high school students.  While it wasn't Storyline per se, it used similar narrative and interactive approaches.  I loved it!

I'm considering an investment of time and money to develop a Storyline specialty.  So my questions to you veterans are: (1) are there clients out there for freelance/contract Storyline developers with a background such as mine? (2) if I were to use the trial version to learn Storyline, would I be able to publish a "sample?" (3) what's the best way to reach out with Storyline knowledge to find clients?

I'd also appreciate it if you'd glance at my site (www.lisajorudy.com), just to let me know what you think of the materials and approach!

It seemed to me that, if I were to dig into Storylines
