Picture fill on grouped shapes
Am I missing something? When I group some shapes and then go to format shapes and select Picture or Texture fill, it fills each shape separately...it does not spread the one image out and allow the grouped shapes to reveal it. Can someone explain please what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!
Here's one way you can do what you want but it only works for images and not videos.

there is a restriction with fill with backround
- every multiple used shape
- with the same width and height
shares the same cutout of the background, if you publish the course
in storyline
after publish
- rect 1 + 2 (125x125) fetches the background fill from rect 1
- rect 3 + 4 (120x120) fetches the background fill from rect 3
tested with SL 3.83 + SL 3.88
You're not doing anything wrong, but that's not how the feature works.
The shapes are all individual shapes and grouping them only groups them together but doesn't treat them as a single shape.

Ok. Is there a way to merge them into a single shape to mask out an image / video?
Hi Derek!
I'm happy to share that we have a Merge Shape feature currently logged as a feature request! I've included your voice in the report and will update this discussion if it makes it onto our Feature Roadmap!
Thanks for reaching out and have a great week!
