problem with resume and number variables being rounded down

May 08, 2013

Hi

my first post here but I raised this via a support ticked and it seems it's a definite bug which has been referred to the Quality Assurance team but meanwhile I can't think of a workaround.

I'm working on a Maths game and have hit what seems to be an issue with the resume functionality. I've searched the forums etc and not really found reference to this specific issue. In this game I have a number variable set to a default value of 6.31 which represents £6.31 this doesn't change during the game but is used as part of calculations. All works fine and in various slides the value is displayed on screen. The problem is if the browser is refreshed and resume selected or resume forced during publish then presumably the player reloads the value from Flash cookie and turns 6.31 into 6 so the display and calculations become incorrect. The problem only happens if a text entry field is included and used in the same project and resume is used but this is different to the known issue about numbers in text fields. You can see an example and further explanation here:
http://vle.jisctechdis.ac.uk/articulate_tests/variable_test/story.html and I've also attached the .story file for that simple test file.

My problem is in the actual game I need text entry, I need numeric variables and ideally I need resume. The only solution I've found at the moment is to disable resume but this does seem to be a very fundamental bug.

Any suggestions for a solution to retain all of the above functionality?

Many thanks
