TIP: Create a "Pick One" Question with Multiple Correct Answers

A "pick one" question allows only one correct answer. Well, that's the point of "pick one."

But what if there's more than one right answer to a question, and you only want the user to choose one? Or what if you want the user to identify something in an image, and the image includes more than one of those objects?

The attached Storyline file shows how to set up a "pick one" question that does allow more than one correct answer. You can see it in action here.

The trick is having on-slide selections control the actual "pick one" buttons, which are off the slide.

This is just one example of how useful off-slide items can be!

      Glad to know that, Jeff. I hope it's a long-lasting LED.  ;-)

Agree with above comments!  This was sooo helpful to open the file and copy the methodology for this.  LOVE IT.

What a clever way to do that kind of interaction. Thank you for sharing! I am putting this to use today.

Judy, this is a really great solution! It almost solves what I need...is it possible to do this where the learner does not have to click a Submit button? Can you use "submit on click" where there are multiple correct options?

My project is a software simulation where the user is taking a graded quiz and needs to click the correct button in the workflow. For some screens there are two Accept buttons, and I want them to be able to click either one, get the point and move on to the next slide.

    Any thoughts?

Lisa1: To avoid using the Submit button, just add the "Submit [interaction]" trigger to all of the potential responses. The slide will be scored as soon as the user clicks any of the responses.

A "Submit [interaction]" trigger automatically jumps to the next slide if the question doesn't provide immediate feedback.

I had tried that and it didn't work yesterday, but played around again today and it worked! I must've had something wrong. Really appreciate your help and expertise!
