SWF to Storyline

Jan 05, 2022

Hello, I received some eLearning modules. They are exe files and running flash player to run the eLearning courses. I was able to get the SWF files however I can no longer run them. I do not have the source files, I am guessing they were made in Adobe Flash when it existed.

I need to make those eLearning modules playable with interactivity. I do not have the time to remake each of them via Storyline. I tried to incorporate the SWF file in the Storyline however that does not work.

Any ideas/suggestions how I can approach to solve this?

Good find. I just played around with the Flash Player debugger. As long as you have the file folder intact and load the story.swf it seems to play OK.

Of course, it's probably not a good idea to ask people to download the Flash player. But for you, you can at least see what's in the file and then capture that using the ideas in the links above that Christy shared.

Hey George! Are you referring to the method I shared above? I don't know if it still works, but Tom Kuhlmann did a helpful video tutorial on how to view old Flash courses in case you want to try following those same steps to see if that does the trick. If that doesn't work, I'm not aware of any other method, but hopefully the community might have more ideas to share. 🤞
