AI Voice Generators

Looking for feedback on AI voice generators - the good, the bad, the ugly. Those integrated into Storyline itself are not going to work for my business, so I'm wondering what others are using.

We've using Storyline in many ways. We are located in Austria. Since then we used the german and austrian voices. But with the KI Update these voices are no longer available. Why?

Hi Karl, there are now two buttons for audio. The original text-to-speech voices are still available in the dropdown of the Audio button on the right so you can still use the German and Austrian voices.

We've decided to go with elevenlabs. So far we are pretty happy with the outcome plus it offers some additional features.

  • Lately I've used Synthesia. I've had mixed impressions. I like the voices but I don't like when their characters are on screen saying the words (too much uncanny valley). Some of the voices pop their P's and you can hear them take a breath (all the things I try to get rid of when I record my own VO). I don't like that I can't control emphasis or breaks in where I would like them, and the pronunciation of certain words can be difficult [read/read (red/reed), lead/lead (led/leed].

      Hi TomKuhlmann,

Vips_eLearn asked this question, and I'd like to ask again to signal boost it; is there any character/duration limit on generated voiceovers? The answer is important to my organization since we also have a plan with Elevenlabs and we'd like to know if there is potential redundancy in our subscriptions.

As an FYI, I have tried the Ai assistant VO in Storyline.

        Hello Mark,

I'm happy to chime in! It was a great call to open a support case as well. I see that my colleague Darrell helped shed light on your question. I am sharing his answer here for the sake of other community members.

No, there is no maximum limit to the total number of characters you can convert to narration per license per month with Articulate AI. We don’t track usage on the user, seat, or license level, so there’s no cap on your usage.

Feel free to check this article for answers to common questions about Articulate AI.

Let's continue the conversation in your support case to keep all the information in one place, but I'm happy to assist further as needed.

Is there a price increase for teams when using AI Assistant?

Is there going to be an extra charge for a team subscription for AI Assistant?

Yes, there is an extra charge for a team subscription (per person) for the AI Assistant.

It would be helpful to know why those voices don't work for you.

There just isn't an option for a voice that fits our business, so I need more options. I need voices that sound energetic and fun.

WellSaid Labs is great. Lots of different voice options and the quality continues to improve.
