  • Hi BarbaraJacobs-1!

    Happy to help!

Can you clarify the type of changes you're making to the Master Slide? When making changes to a Master Slide, it can affect the Focus Order of items at the Slide level. The Focus Order window in Storyline includes all objects from the Slide, as well as those from Master Slides. If you add new objects to the Master Slide after customizing the Focus Order, they will appear at the bottom of the list.

However, we are tracking a Storyline bug, which causes behavior similar to what you've shared. When a Dialog Layer is present in a Slide Master, the Slide's Focus Order is not followed. Even if the Layer is not shown. Do any of your Master Slides contain Dialog Layers?

Also, if you're comfortable sharing a copy of the affected .story file we'd be happy to take a closer look. Feel free to upload that here in the discussion or privately through a support case.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Yes, that is what is happening, the focus order of objects at the slide level is changing when I make any kind of change to a slide master, however minor (like nudging a title down 2 pixels).

No master slide has a dialog layer, however I do use a feedback layer as a dialog layer.

        Hello BarbaraJacobs-1

Thanks for sharing an update with us about what you're experiencing. I see that you've opened a support case and that you're working with my colleague Phil. You're in excellent hands! We'll continue the conversation over in your case, so everything is in one spot!

  • This is not about what is on the Slide Master that changes the slide, but about how an update changes the order of items in the focus order once they are set.  Changes to the slide master should not be changing the items in the focus order.
