Better printing out of Storyline
Hi all,
Since there's a new trigger to print a slide, we thought that to integrate a printable course summary directly in our modules was a good idea. The problem is, it looks like it is set up for a portrait orientation by default, meaning that even if I change the orientation to landscape, it doesn't take the whole available resulting space, and I have to zoom to 150% to force it to print on the whole page.
Did I miss something ? Ist it a bug ? Is there a limitation? I have set up a simple print trigger when the user clicks a button.
Cheers !

I am having the same problem. I have just made a slide that acts as a certificate and pulls through the name and date, rather than creating a separate pdf. I have a print trigger using a button. The eLearning is in landscape mode but at the end when you click the print button it defaults to portrait mode and you have to manually select landscape. I can't see any way to change this. What am I doing wrong?

Hello JoC62,
Thanks for sharing your experience! You’re right that the Print Slide trigger currently defaults to portrait orientation, even when the course itself is in landscape.
At the moment, there isn’t a way to lock the output to landscape automatically, so learners do need to adjust it manually as you described.
I’ve shared your feedback with our team, since having control over print orientation would make this feature much more useful, especially for certificates and other landscape-formatted slides.
We’ll keep you posted here if this option becomes available in a future Storyline update. Thanks again for raising this. It’s really helpful to hear how you’re using the feature.
Hello Marine_LWL,
Happy to help!
The "Print slide" trigger is designed to print the slide the way it appears to your learners. This trigger should work regardless if the slide uses portrait or landscape orientation. Would you be willing to share a copy of your project file here or privately by opening a support case so we can test how the printing behaves for your slide? We'll delete it when we're done testing!
