Blurry Images in Preview and Published
I've noticed this for awhile, all of my images I insert into this Storyline 3 course appear quite blurry everywhere - on the Storyline development screens, when previewed and when published (either as HTML5 or Flash).
The images are all smaller than the maximum size, they are at 100% scaling, have no effects applied to them. My Publish settings is set to 100% quality. I've tried bitmaps, pngs, jpgs, all identical blurry results.
I've searched these forums and seen a couple other threads on it , but never found a solution or real explanation for it. I can't send this course over to my client - it's embarrassingly bad.

I am approaching our renewal next month. I have this issue and it is disturbing that the images (screen captures illustrating our system) are VERY clear and precise in the individual screen building arena - yet the minute I select "Preview" - Blurry! So it is NOT an importing issue from PowerPoint slides into Articulate = that Works.. It is within moving from creating to publishing or previewing that the degradation happens. My test users that I use prior to publishing our training are actually squinting. Not a good thing at all. I have downloaded all the updates and no change. As mentioned, I am approaching renewal time - - Please find and send out a fix ASAP - I really don't want to go searching for another authoring tool just now.
P.S. I am not scaling down images at all

Still no update on this??

I do understand that they want to push out new features for SL360 before SL3, but I do not understand how bux-fixes and general stability of their software should be a lower priority for SL3 users. They should have the exact same priority when it comes to stability and bugs, as they are both paid software.

Agreed! Storyline 3 is still available to purchase for new users and those looking to upgrade from SL2. The people that purchase this without being unaware of this issue is not fair at all. Surely whenever a bug is identified it should be dealt with, a few weeks is understandable. However, this has been ongoing for a VERY VERY LONG time and is getting ridiculous now.

I tried creating a vector graphic (thinking that might help the problem) and still no luck. Granted, I can't use the vector within Storyline, but I was hoping that might help. I was trying to use the "zoom" feature; while I understand zooming might pose a problem with poor graphics (crap in-crap out, so to speak), I've found that even removing the zoom still doesn't help the graphic itself. I don't want to have to crop-up my image and "gerry-rig" a zoom, but it's what I'm going to have to do until this blurry issue gets fixed. If I were Articulate, I'd be SO embarrassed right now!

I am still experiencing this issue even with the most recent SL 360. If I fill a shape (specifically, a circle) with an image, it looks terrible when published. I have tried publishing to Review and our LMS and both look awful. I worked with support nearly a year ago on this and they finally admitted that there was an issue, but it was not resolved. It was left that it "would be worked on." I was hopeful it would be resolved but a year later and I am encountering the same problem. For me, the issue seems to only pertain to images that are filling a shape. Thoughts?
Hi all,
The last reply from Alyssa was about a month ago, and is included below:
Once we have an update ready for Storyline 3, we'll post here to let folks know.
If you're still experiencing blurriness on the latest update of Storyline 360 (build 3.29.19305.0 ) we want to know about it and take a look at exactly what you're seeing. Please connect with our Support Team here and they'll work with you one on one and we'll share updates here.

When will you understand that your responses for the last two years stringing us along about potential updates doesn't work on us anymore? As far as i'm concerned, you'll never update this, and most of us will be forced to purchase SL360. You only want to help people when it's fiscally convenient for you and this is absolutely unacceptable. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Evan - for what it's worth, I'm having issues and we use SL360, not SL3.

They can only ignore the elephant in the room for so long. They're not going to lose much money off this because they bury comments with scattered posts from staff saying that they're "relaying messages to management." My question is, do management only have meetings once every two or three years? They're not in any process of fixing this, and management could care less about this issue. It's all about the bottom line. They have their team doing damage control on these blogs. Such a disappointment.

My team and I are looking at upgrading from Storyline 2 to Storyline 3 so we can start working on converting our Flash-based courses to HTML5. However, in reading through this thread, I have serious concerns about doing so until this mythical update to Storyline 3 appears.
I know it takes time to test updates from the programmer/software side, but even if they release just the blurry fix as a quick patch, and then release the other updates in another official update, that would be great.
To create great looking content from the designer and developer end, and then have it look horrible due to an overdue software fix, that's just downright frustrating, and certainly damaging to the software brand.
I will be following this thread, and will not spend any money on upgrades until this issue is resolved.

I think don't think you're understanding what I'm saying. It's been 2-years, Matthew. TWO. not two-months or even 6-months. I think what upsets me most is that staff come on here saying that this issue is going to be fixed when they know it's not even in the process. Instead, they ask me to upgrade to SL360. That was really a misstep on their part.
How would you feel if you purchased a TV from me and then after a year of working great, it started to become really blurry. The resolution only seemed to work in HD on some channels. You then proceed to call me and let me know your frustration. I proceed to tell you, it's on the docket to be fixed. Two years later, you come back and let me know the problem is still persisting. I come back and say, you're right and we're still trying to fix it, but you can purchase one of our new line of televisions that doesn't have that problem.
As a customer, how would you feel?
I never said that I wanted to see them update both of them at the same time, but maybe after 2-3 years, they would offer some sort of explanation. Perhaps it can't be fixed. They have been playing damage control for 2-3 years, and now you're coming in to echo the same sentiments they've been feeding us for two years. It does not help, and my courses are still blurry.
I don't think I'd be posting this if I didn't absolutely love the software. I would just go buy Adobe if that was the case. However, you are right that they do care. It's just relative to their end game. It's all about the bottom line. If you're a SL360 customer, you get priority. Okay, i get that. Does that mean that you stop supporting SL3, though? Of course not. They push updates all the time. It's just that those are not updates to address the critical problems of SL3.
I love Storyline, and i love Articulate as a company. I think they're the best in the business, and I have been very grateful for this site to have a forum. The community is incredible and everyone truly cares about each other's success. I can't say how much i appreciate it. However, sometimes companies need to see honest feedback. That is what i'm providing. I'm not trying to get anyone in trouble or start internet trolling wars. I'm just trying to speak for the customer, from the customer. Since they give us a place to do it, here i am.
There are some things that i may have said that are subjective, and i appreciate that you don't agree with it, but there are also facts. the fact is that this issue has not been addressed in two years. I don't know what else to say other than it looks like i'm just going to have to file suit and purchase SL360.
Hi Evan,
I appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns here. I reached out to you directly via email to discuss some of this in more detail with you, so please let me know if you didn't receive that email. Happy to resend and continue the conversation.

Just wanted to let folks know that I tried working with support on this issue and there was no resolution. In fact, the advice that was given to me by the tech didn't work, even for him! He admitted there was no solution to my issue and just went ahead and submitted it as a "feature request" and basically said to just hope it gets fixed sometime soon. Meanwhile, I have to either change my design to avoid these blurry, sub-standard images or hope that our audience doesn't really care that it looks terrible. I doubt the latter is a realistic option...
And, just to reiterate - we are having this problem with SL360, so it's not something that affects just those who aren't on the "premium" version of SL.
Hi Logan,
I took a look at your case with Christopher (case #01879676) and saw that he shared it was submitted as a bug to our team (not a feature request). This issue is slightly different than the previous discussions here in E-Learning Heroes in that it's specific to images added to a shape or set as an image fill within a shape. That's different than the previous issue which has been fixed and dealt with how the slide content was rendered within browsers such as Chrome.
Let me know if there is anything else I can clear up on this.

OK, sorry Ashley. Feature request or bug aside, this is still a very frustrating issue that hasn't been dealt with for nearly a year! Pretty upsetting.
