Button malfunction - only part of the button is clickable

I know this thread is old, but I'm having the same issue, with round buttons. I could only click them a second time if I clicked on the far right side where the outline was. I just change them all to squares and like magic, they work now.
What's weird is that it depends on the slide, the round button work on another slide from which this one was created (I duplicated the slide and then changed the content).
Edit to add: I did some investigating because I had removed the shadow effect from the buttons and wondered if that messed up the target area. Removing the shadow effect from the now square buttons didn't cause them to stop working. However, when I selected all the buttons and turned them back into circles, they work again even if I remove the shadow effect. This didn't work when I reapplied the same original format, so it seems my changing the format to something else and then changing it back reset something. I should note that I'm using the built-in button styles. In short, if you use the built-in styles, trying changing the button to a different shape and then back again, it might fix your problem.

If the issue happens again with this particular Storyline file, try importing your slides to a new Storyline file to see if it helps. Sometimes, there are corrupt elements that are causing erratic behavior, and importing the slides resolves it.
