Can't open Player Settings in Storyline
Hi, I've searched through and found similar issues, but no resolution.
I need to get into Player settings. I click Player. Nothing happens. I try to click somewhere else on the screen and I get a warning noise.
I can get out of it by pressing escape, but I need to access the Player settings.
I've uninstalled, reinstalled, and rebooted. Storyline version 3.81.31200000 on Win 11. I need to change the player settings ASAP.
Thanks!

I opened a new Storyline project and the same things happen. I can't get into the player settings.

I tried these instructions and they did not work.

I am also having this problem. Has there been a resolution?
Update: I followed these instructions and they worked for me.
"If I move Storyline to my second display a much smaller 19", from my main 27" display, the Player settings popup window appears above the application.
Does anyone know of a way that I can reset Articulate or is it just not happy with the 4K Benq HDR screen I'm using as my main display? "The monitor I was originally trying to use is also a 4k ASUS monitor...not sure if that makes a difference or not.
Thanks

Is there a solution for this problem yet? I am not using a second display, but Storyline crashes when I try to open the player settings.
Hello Creative Team,
Sorry to hear that you ran into this snag.
I'd like to ask a few questions to help clarify your experience:
- Does Storyline 360 when you open the player for all projects? Or is this only happening to some projects that you are working on?
- Are you able to replicate the behavior on a new project file?
- Are you working locally when making changes to your project?
If the behavior affects all of your project files, including newly created ones, try repairing your Storyline 360 installation to see if this helps address the behavior. You'll also want to try installing both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Storyline 360 to see if the issue will happen on both versions.
Let us know how it goes!

- For me, Storyline360 reacts the same way on every file I open, weather new or old. The player options will not show up on my main 4k monitor. It could be because my computer is showing that my main monitor is designated 3 while the monitor the player options tries to appear on is designated 1.
- Yes, I can replicate this on every project.
- Yes, I am working locally
I have re-installed Storyline and I switched to using 64-bit; both respond the same way.

Hi, it is happening again. I can't open the Player tab. Storyline locks up and becomes unresponsive.
I'm working locally. I can't open the player tab for ALL projects, even new ones.
Hi Julee!
Sorry to hear you've run into this setback again!
I found your previous support case that was related to this issue. It looks like my colleague John Carlo was helping you. I've just added your feedback to the case, so he can be notified and continue troubleshooting with you. He should be following up with you shortly!

Hi Brittany,
What I found that worked for me is whenever I want to open the Player Tab, I move Storyline over to the monitor that I saw the invisible box and then open the Player Tab. The box, for some reason, now appears just fine. I hope that helps!

Amazingly, I am still finding this issue continues. The double or multiple screens maybe the reason and I did have to reopen Storyline on the screen that showed the "clear" or empty shadow box for the player.
Hi BarbaraMaron209,
Thanks for following up on this. I'm sorry to hear you're still experiencing this issue. It sounds to me that when you reopen Storyline on a different screen, that the Player settings window did appear. Is that correct? If not, it'd be helpful to test the file you're working with, which you can share here or privately in a support case! We'll delete it once troubleshooting is complete.

Hi, I am still getting the player button issue. Every time I click the player button to open the settings, storyline just hangs and I have to then open the task manager to end task on my storyline and resuscitate it.
Is there an alternative way to open the player setting?
Ans, was there a resolution ever provided, I'm curious.
Thank you, appreciate your help in advance!
Hello priyshak,
I understand you're experiencing freezing when you try to open the Player Properties in Storyline 360. I can confirm that this is the location to access the Player Properties for your entire course. Happy to learn more!
- Are you working and saving your project file to your local hard drive (typically your C: drive)?
- If you import your current slides into a brand new .story file, do you still experience this behavior when opening the Player Properties?
- Are you experiencing this behavior with any other projects you're currently working on?
If you are running the latest version of Storyline 360 (Update 110) and this is occurring across multiple project files, I recommend a repair of Storyline 360. A repair can fix some unexpected or erratic behavior.
If, after repairing, you are still experiencing this, we'd be happy to take a closer look at your .story file in this thread or privately in a support case so our team can investigate further!
Looking forward to hearing from you

Yes, all my files are saved on my C drive. I haven’t tried that, but the issue resolved itself on its own and is working fine right now. This has been an ongoing problem that comes up off and on, and when it does, I’m unable to access it. I then have to share it with a team member so they can change the player settings.
