Capture and Report Storyline user responses

My organization built a number of online courses using Articulate Rise 360 and Storyline, which we offer on our Wordpress-hosted website via LearnDash LMS. Throughout these learning modules, there are numerous instances during which the user responds to various reflection questions, however we do not currently have a mechanism to capture these responses within any kind of database. We have a plugin called Tin Canny used for course-related reporting, but this does not seem to have the functionality we are looking for. We have tried publishing our courses to LMS in multiple formats (e.g. SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, etc.).

Does anyone know of any ways to utilize LearnDash LMS to capture participant responses?

  • Hi Katherine!

It sounds like you had questions about capturing learners' answers in a database, through your LMS.

I see that you've previously connected with my teammate Carlo in a support case. Smart move! It looks like Carlo suggested reaching out to the community for additional feedback specific to your LMS (LearnDash). I'll open up the floor to our knowledgeable developers who may be able to offer some insight!

  • Hi Steven,

Thank you so much for your response. Really appreciate you checking in with your developers on these questions. Please let us know if there's any additional information we can provide to help find a solution.

      Hi Katherine!

      You're welcome, happy to help!

Looking at your case and the feedback Carlo shared:

Storyline blocks don't send any question-related information or answers to an LMS. At the moment, it can only send quiz scores to the LMS if you are tracking using the Quiz results option. Here's more information about how to track completion using a Storyline block.

Unfortunately, I don't have a background in using WordPress/LearnDash. However, I'd also recommend posting your scenario in our forums to get advice and feedback from other community members.

Moreover, this discussion might be applicable to your scenario.

I'll open the floor to our knowledgeable community who may be able to offer insight or suggestions!

  • Hi Steven,

Thank you again for taking this inquiry to your team! Are there any updates or learnings to share?

  • Tincanny will do what you want, you need to publish to xAPI the text entry needs to be survey questions and report to a results slide, you can then run a report off this. Just seen that you are embedding in Rise, then Storyline Magic will do what you want but an output will be more difficult.

  • The other option is to use a plugin called storyline magic which store them in the user data, however this does not out put as easily as Tincanny
