Character flickering on new slide

In my training, the learner picks an avatar from 8 different storyline characters and that avatar carries through the rest of the training.  When the new screen comes up, the "normal" state of the character appears briefly, then switches to the chosen avatar. It's very distracting to have this brief flicker of another character on each new slide.
