Course Exiting when using CMI 5
I've run into some issues with Safari executing SCORM files on our LMS (Talent) - they still work but there is a weird issue when users reload the page or use the back browser button the LMS doesn't display the course and just shows an incomplete button. It doesn't happen with Chrome or Edge.
I thought publishing as CMI 5 was a functional workaround but...I discovered that if the module opens in an embedded window the exit course buttons I built in Storyline are inoperable when the course is exported as CMI 5 (or xAPI). I'll probably just default to open in new window but I'd rather not have to do that
Thoughts?
Hello Jeremy,
Happy to help!
This is the first time i'm hearing of CMI5 courses causing this behavior in an LMS. Could you confirm if the same content works properly in SCORM Cloud? Here’s how you can test:
If you are able to replicate the behavior in SCORM Cloud, would you be willing to share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a closer look at what's happening? We'll delete it when we're done testing!

The behavior I referenced does not happen when the module is executed in
SCORM Cloud - I passed it onto Talent as a potential bug on their side. Thanks,
Jeremy Lippart
Thanks for the update, Jeremy! Glad to hear you're looking into this with your LMS provider. If any questions or discoveries come up in the future, feel free to reach out in the E-Learning Heroes Community.
Hope that you have a great day and happy authoring! ✨

We noticed the same behavior in Saba Cloud. We published Storyline 360 file as CMI5 but Exit buttons at end of course do not function. Course worked fine as SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004. Same thing happened when we created a new course from scratch and published to CMI5. Also - we cannot get question and answer text to appear in the LMS with CMI5.
