Default Setting for Text Boxes - Do Not Resize
I've been reading the discussions about font sizes in text boxes and see that the answer is to set the shape to 'Do not autofit'. Is there a link to instructions to make that a default setting in Storyline?
Thank you

I second the call for this feature. I spend inordinate amounts of time checking size and resizing fonts in text boxes. Just please give us the option to display what we asked for -- if we could turn off the "feature" that resizes the text it would save countless hours and errors.

In case it helps someone...the option to "Do not autofit" (Format Shape > Text Box), is copyable, meaning if you create one object with the option set and copy/paste it the 2nd object will also have it set.
Also if you select multiple text blocks you can set the property for them all at once.

Yes, I also second a call for this feature. Our team has also spent a lot of time checking the size of the fonts in text boxes.
Thanks everyone for chiming in! Just to make sure I'm clear, would you prefer the text to overflow the shape, or for the shape to resize, as the default behavior?

I want to +1 this request as well. Make "Do not autofit" as a default behavior for new textboxes. We need to ensure that we meet minimum font size for compliance with accessibility guidelines and without this we can't do that unless we go multiple clicks deep on each box to uncheck this default.
To answer your question, the text should overflow. Don't dynamically resize anything for me. I know what I'm doing and want SL3 to just do as I command, not second guess me. Thanks!

I agree also. if would be great if there was setting where we can choose what the default is.

I'd like to add my name to the chorus as well. Most clients I've worked with want font sizes to be uniform, and in many cases have specific font sizes. All body text must be arial, 14pt, for example. When storyline autofits the text, you could have text on the page that is all different sizes, some large, some small, and everything in between, and it all says 14pt. It's a lot of work to go back and adjust all the text boxes to make them look uniform, and you only know the fonts are uniform by eyeballing it since as far as Storyline knows they're all the same, even though they're not. And even if it says 14 pt, you don't know if that's true. I honestly can't believe this has remained this long without an easy way to undo it. No Autofit should be default. Inconsistent fonts are the bane of the designer's existence!
Hi Maryanne!
I appreciate you letting us know you'd like to see a setting that would allow you to set "Do not autofit" as a default text box setting, and I'd like to know more about your idea.
Can you tell me why this feature would be useful for you? What scenario would you use it in?

Hi Alyssa
I entered Text Box but I should have typed Caption. If I use a consistent Caption shape and font size, I can right-click and select Set as Default Shape which should solve my issue.
Thanks for asking!

I am not the original poster, but I, too, would like a default option for "Do Not Autofit."
When I am entering text, I would like to be able to know what my font size *actually* is, rather than whatever I started with that Articulate then changed for me.
I routinely am creating multiple text boxes on a slide, and would like to be able to ensure they are all the same font size. Being able to select a single default choice for "Do Not Autofit" would let me set it once at the beginning of a project (or once at the beginning of time, even better!), and then only allow Autofit on those rare occasions that I might be interested in using it.
In short, I want control over my font sizes.
Ah, thanks for letting me know! I'm glad you found what you needed, Maryanne.
Thanks for the candid feedback, Katherine. I know our team is always keen to hear about how we can improve our tools to be more useful for you, so I can certainly pass along your suggestion.
Our product team does love hearing new ideas, so keep them coming!
