Does anyone else find Rise is slow these days?

Rise has been very slow and quite glitchy as of late.

I initially thought this was an issue with my computer being overloaded and slow as a result. However, we've tested this on multiple computers and in different locations to ensure it wasn't an internet service provider issue. Most assets will take some time to load or are just glitchy overall (like the block template library not even displaying all templates sometimes). The worst are the microlearning courses - these will take over a minute to fully load and you can't do anything on the screen. If you scroll down to a new section, then it will take some time to reload all of those assets as well.

Anyone else experiencing these issues?

  • Hi Everyone!

I’m happy to share that we just released a new update for Rise 360!

This update fixes the issue that was causing slowdowns while authoring course content. There’s nothing to install for web-based apps. New features and fixes are immediately available!

If you’re still experiencing slowdowns, first please ensure any browser plugins have been disabled. Also, when working with large scale courses, some slowdowns are expected. To remedy that, we suggest breaking larger courses down into smaller pieces.

If you have questions about this update, or the issue you reported, please connect with our team through a support case.

    Thank you!

  • Rise is painfully slow at the moment, to a level where it isn't acceptable considering the cost of the subscription. It is taking an age to update text or edit options within a block.

Added to that, it has also switched me out of my course and asked me to take control, or reported that my computer is currently offline (yet here I am, typing this message)

This seems to be a re-occurring and increasingly frequent performance issue. It has real world impact - I am currently trying to finish a few updates to a course before a deadline and I estimate it is at least doubling the time it normally would.

I would love to hear an update from Articulate about how and when they will improve stability

I am experiencing the same thing on my end. I did verify that its increasing my memory load up to 2G! Insane... This is an Articulate issue and unfortunately because its affecting my dad to day, I will be looking at another solution.

It's been running painfully slow since their outage a few weeks ago. Changes are being lost and Rise has become a resource hog on my very fast i9 core machine.  I keep having to shut down my browser, which is fully updated both chrome and edge.  Custom blocks never load unless close Rise and log back in.  I am also being timed or kicked out forcing multiple log ins.

The real down turn in this program was when they added OpenAi as their AI processor. I don't have that version because if it's lack of total security (OpenAi).  When will all these reports of lag, instability and issues be rectified be taken seriously?

    Just so the Staff knows:
My Rise courses are kept efficient, short, all media optimized
    Machine is New Win11Pro
    Fast internet ISP
    Browsers full updated
    All system updates completed

I have the same problem! Would be great if it can be fixed soon.

  • We have the same issue. Could we have a timeline for when Rise will function correctly, please?

  • Me too, Rise is very laggy. Uploads are taking alot longer than normal and Edit Content buttons getting sticky, click them and they remain on their down state for a few seconds before eventually opening the lesson. I've just upgraded to a super, super fast broadband so its not my internet connection!

  • Hi Everyone!

I understand you are facing setbacks and lag, when authoring in Rise 360!

Thank you for highlighting the issue, and sharing your feedback in this discussion. I've notified our Rise 360 development team, who is currently looking into possible causes of this behavior. Our goal is never to leave our authors stuck in their development.

Thank you for your patience. I'm sorry if this has been slowing you down!

Just now a new and odd behavior besides lag and system resource load; I cut and pasted text from one block to another and I got text plus formatting code in little black boxes like [paragraph] [b] etc.  I did a CTRL+V to paste text only. I couldn't grab a screenshot quick enough before I got the Not Available full screen error.  I shut Chrome and opened back up and the code and text were gone.  The Lag and drain on system resources still remain.

My suspicion is that the AI subprocessor OpenAI is dragging Rise and Storyline down.

One other thing that Rise has been doing is always opening in the AI hover everytime I go into a block. The Edit hover window kicks in and is always in the AI position.  I often have to scroll to get rid of it. I also do not have the AI version.

      OpenAI issue:

  • I never used microlearning and i just started using that function. The editing was very smooth. However, the scorm downloads took forever for files that small! I've used Articulate rise for many years and it's never been that slow! A 60MB scorm zip file download would take 10 mins.

Hi SarahMottagh347! We haven’t seen similar reports recently regarding SCORM download speed. Are you using the same browser and downloading to the same location or network environment as before?

If those haven’t changed, we’d be happy to investigate further. You can send a copy of your course to us at support@articulate.com, and we’ll do some testing on our end.
