Does Articulate have any plans to make a Mac OS compatible version of Storyline?
Or any other products?

I use a Mac and I also use Storyline. The biggest frustration for me was the additional license cost of both VMware plus Windows. But otherwise, not a huge deal to start it and everything works in there just fine. Too bad there are no plans for a Mac version.

I agree with you Lilian. They may not lose enough potential customers to warrant Mac development, but I assume they've done their research in that area and not due to shortsightedness for growth opportunities. They do essentially lose people like me, because I use it when I have to (using Parallels) but generally don't recommend it to other Mac users who ask. It only gets a quick mention b/c while Parallels runs it acceptably, there is a small handicap in that it may not run reliably when using some of the more integrative features of Parallels. I'd rather have native or equal quality web-based tools.

If we can't get a MAC version, at the very least, you can surely develop a Powerpoint plugin that either works online or for MAC. It doesn't have to be the full robustness, but the asset library, various screen capture modes such as "demo", and additional interactive instructional design elements are huge.
The user experience is so frustrating. You should offer at the very least a RISE only pay option. It is hard to justify to a company that we are going to be able to leverage 20% of the tool unless we either buying a 1-2K PC for each team member, on top of their mac; or pay for some hack job workaround.
I truly have never had to purchase some much additional software and services to run a suite of products.

Please consider providing a MAC version. My very large company, with a huge requirement for elearning is moving a lot of design and development to the MAC.
iPads are a lot better for education for many reasons. iBooks Author is starting to take off with Apple classroom and so we will move to MACs very soon. If Articulate storyline doesn't support the MAC we will jump ship and be forced to use your competitors programs.
Hope you can understand times are changing in the classroom and I feel you should provide the flexibility to the Apple platform.

IBM has went to MACs. You know, small company of 500,000 employees. Recently, I tried to get a group on Articulate and it all fell through when they realized that on top of the license, they had to add the cost of Fusion and Windows. A few tried the trial license, but had so much trouble getting it all setup that they went back to other products that do far less, but were far easier on the budget and time spent setting it all up. Not sure what the cost would be to do this, but I know a development group based in Kansas that is far cheaper than off-shoring development. Just something to consider!

I just looked into purchasing Storyline. The software looks awesome. I made the decision to purchase and then saw that there is no mac version, so I will be looking else where. I wonder if Articulate is really aware of how 'big' (or small in their eyes) the apple market is?? There are tons of 'creators' who are are mac users... and I don't believe Articulate know how many people are turning away from not purchasing when they see there is no apple version. Not everybody tells you why they don't buy... We just walk away and move on...

I use Parallels, but it is not at all "really fast and an easy transition" as stated by Ashley in this thread. Before I can work on a Storyline project, I have to save all my files to a USB drive so they're available to me in Windows. I don't have any of my Creative Cloud tools available when I'm working in Windows, so if I need to make a change to a file, then I have to switch back to Mac to work on it there. I can't keep Parallels and Storyline running while also doing tasks on the Mac side of things, because it slows my computer down too much. I have a new iMac--it's not a hardware issue.
It's also irritating that I have to pay extra (yearly) for Parallels, as well as buying the Windows license. In addition, when I needed to export storyboards to Word (a requirement for a recent project), I had to install a second license of Microsoft Office for my virtual Windows application.
Windows crashes constantly, and as someone else mentioned, there are the frequent, very slow Windows updates. I am beyond frustrated at Articulate's stubborn refusal to hear us Mac users and develop a native app that works well for us.

I completely agree with Matthew and the hordes of other Mac users using Articulate. I'm also a longtime Articulate Mac user, although never a community 'hero'. I'm very supportive and love the product. I have also clamored for a Mac version in many community posts. I remember Articulate saying they were working on a Mac version a few years ago, and then Poof! All conversation stopped.
I'm tired of the same, lame rhetoric from Articulate since that moment, that 'there aren't enough Mac users to justify' creating a Mac version. What a ludicrous reason. We buy licenses every year! If you have ANY Mac users, you should be scrambling to keep them happy, as you do the rest of your customer population. Period. Excuse my grumbling, but I've been waiting patiently with no results from Articulate.
Is Articulate incapable of spending money on R&D to make Mac versions a reality? Adobe has found a way to release a Mac version of Captivate for years, as have other L&D tools. Articulate, by contrast, just keeps letting us know they don't care about us. No Mac version, end of story.
Until now hopefully, with the M1 release, which I bought. As Matthew mentioned, the pre-M1 Macs will eventually die out, so we have to have a Mac version if they want to keep us. Right now, they're the only game in town. I am not-so-patiently waiting for that to change.
Parallels is working on an M1-friendly version of their product (release date TBD - sigh). Other than that, there is no bright spot in this M1 scenario. Like many of you, I'm tired of being treated like a second class citizen by Articulate. Will they ever listen to us? Or are we really that irrelevant to them?

Hi everyone,
A couple of things to point out:
1. Matthew NAILED IT! When I was out in San Diego a few of years ago, Articulate told me then, that they are not pursuing creating a Mac version of SL. "It costs too much money." (Said the company making lots of money and could afford appealing to every user)
2. Articulate makes a load of money making a product that is easy for the masses to enter this elearning design market (Powerpoint).
3. Captivate, even Lectora, is more robust than SL and the learning curve is a bit more steep. Having to put VMW and a copy of WIndows on a Mac just to use to use a "handcuffed" app seems counter intuitive but that's the way Articulate made it and appears they like it.
4. All of what we have input here has fallen on deaf ears at Articulate. They have their niche and have made it quite clear they are not going to create a Mac based version. I think it's about time we look at other authoring tools. It's interesting that Adobe has invested the money into making their software usable on MS and Mac, yet they haven't gone bankrupt. I would even argue that they increased their customer base too.
Anyway, to all those who are Mac users, good luck with finding a solution and moving forward. I applaud you and respect you.

Thanks, Keith. I signed up for the beta. Hope this is better than Storyline.

Thanks Keith. We often help our clients choose platforms and LMS (we have just under 6k employees). I have both personal and an institutional licenses for both Storyline and Captivate. We've been following this new version of Captivate.

Keith you are awesome! I will definitely try Adobe Captivate. It beats paying for parallel and articulate.
