Embed Youtube Video - Error 153
Wondering about an update? We have the same issue. The videos work fine from ones that were published as of 7/30/25, but if we try to update the older courses or create new courses, the YouTube videos no longer work - with error code 153. I have also tried all the recommended suggestions. We have moved anything new with these types of links to Captivate as they have no issues.
I tested the embed code from the original post, and it worked everywhere I published it, including SCORM Cloud. If the YouTube video works in SCORM Cloud but shows Error 153 in your LMS, the issue is likely not the embed code itself.
YouTube Error 153 generally indicates that YouTube cannot verify the origin or referrer information required to play the video. This can happen when the LMS loads content in a way that blocks or alters the referrer information sent to YouTube.
If your embed code includes the "referrerpolicy" attribute, try removing it and test again. If the issue persists, the LMS may be applying security restrictions or sandbox settings that interfere with YouTube embeds. In that case, it may be worth checking with your LMS administrator or testing the course in another LMS environment such as SCORM Cloud to confirm whether the issue is LMS-specific.
You're welcome to upload your embed code here as well, and others can test it on their end to help determine whether the issue is with the code itself or the LMS environment.
