Export for translation - Slide titles from title box are exported as untitled slide

Hello,

I came across bug when exporting files for translation. I sniffed something is wrong when I saw many "untitled slides" in my courses menus. All my original English slides are titled, but the title is mostly generated from the title box.

So I investigated and indeed, when exporting translation files when title is obtained from the built-in title box, the slide title is referred as Untitled slide. When you manually change the name to something else, it exports as intended.

You can see with attached .story file what happens when you export translation file.

And also, on the very bottom there is menu section. This is not translating menu at all, it takes titles for the menu from the slide title on corresponding slide. In this case it shouldn't be even present in the translation file. Can you please delete this in output? PLEASE don't change the actual behavior - it is good as it is, as it minimizes error output ;)

  • Hi Mateusz,

    Happy to help!

I tested the translation using an older version of Storyline 360 (Update 71) and it appears that the slide name was populated correctly there:

I opened a support case on your behalf so we can investigate why the behavior for the slide name changed and if this is a confirmed bug. The menu items at the bottom have always been there, so I'd recommend raising a feature request to share your thoughts about removing these.

You're in good hands and someone from our team will be in touch with you shortly!

  • Hi, I have experienced the same problem with the Word export.

The 'Slide name' field is quite often populated with "Untitled slide" instead of correct title, and this causes translation to be incorrect after importing the Word back to a Storyline file.

Could this be fixed asap since it causes problems for translation process?

      Hello Antti!

Sorry that you are running into this issue as well! This was fixed in Update 88 for Storyline 360. Do you mind checking to see if you are using the latest version?

  • Agreed! Had the same issue on a workfile that we're translating in 10 languages. I have to correct this on 60+ slides, so 600 changes to do by hand...

      Hi SAS SPEEDERNET!

Wow, I can see how tedious that process must have been. Sorry that this bug has had such an impact. We did release a fix for this in Update 88 for Storyline 360. Are you using the latest version?
