Freelancing issues with Rise
Hi community,
I'm a freelance developer and I have a client who wants me to build a course in Rise for them. They don't have an Articulate 360 account, nor the in-house expertise to develop courses, hence why they want to hire me.
The problem here is that if they want to make future iterations to the course, (which is likely) they'll have to do so through me. This of course is great for me as I'll get repeat business, but it relies on me maintaining my Articulate 360 subscription and having the availability to carry out the work - not a great situation for the client.
Is there a solution to this potential/likely predicament that I'm not aware of?

Your contract should explain the risk. I have never said I am the protector of their files and explain that for Storyline files a copy would be transferred to them and for Rise a copy shared with them on completion.
If I decide not to renew and had no further work from them then the work is unfortunately lost. This has happened with other subscription services such as Vyond.

Thanks for the advice Phil. Yes, I'll state it clearly in the contract so they are aware.
Shame there's not a solution for this though as I imagine it's a common problem for organisations, perhaps the team at Articulate have it on their roadmap ;)
Hi there, William. To add, we won't delete your until least 6 months after your subscription ends. If your were to restart your subscription within that window, your Rise 360 content would still be available for editing.
