Future upgrades for the TTS voice options in Articulate?

Hi!

I noticed that the Articulate 360 Feature Roadmap does not include any enhancements for the text-to-speech options in Storyline 360. Are there any future plans to upgrade the voices to make them sound more human, allow customization to pronunciation using the Text-to-Speech feature, or modify pacing and verbal emphasis?

Thanks!

  • Hi, everyone!

I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 83, we’ve included important fixes and new features!

    One enhanced feature we’ve included:

Unlock new possibilities for text-to-speech audio. Use speech synthesis markup language (SSML) to adjust the speaking rate, modify pronunciation, emphasize words, add pauses, and more.

To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here!

  • Hello Articulate Team--Please make this upgrade to the text-to-speech voices a priority. Our partners/clients are pushing back on the use and adoption of Articulate TTS due to the poorer quality, and asking that we use better, external TTS instead of the built-in Articulate TTS voices.

  • Hi Cas and Carrie,

Thanks for letting us know that improvements to Storyline's text-to-speech voices will be helpful for you. I've added your votes for the existing feature request below. We'll let you know once it is added to Storyline!

    • Support for NTTS or Neural Text To Speech
  • I 1000% agree! it's so frustrating that such a great product like SL360 has such lackluster speech to text technology.

  • Hi Daniece!

It sounds like you were interested in more editing tools for the Text-To-Speech feature in Storyline 360!

We already have this logged as a Feature Request, and I'll include your voice in the report!  You're in the right place, and we'll update this discussion if this feature makes it on our feature roadmap.

Thanks for reaching out! Have a great start to your week!

I second Daniece's request. The English voices are too robotic and we need some authentic sounding Spanish voices.

Adding my support for TTS voice updates as well. Our team exclusively uses Articulate's text-to-speech narration in courses, and one of the most common complaints we get from clients is that the voice options sound very robotic, especially compared to external AI voiceover tools available now.

Upgrading TTS with the ability to read phonetically would be great. I haven't been able to have Matthew read the noun "delegate" correctly, even after trying different ways. Also being able to set which syllable has the accent would be very helpful--the difference between a noun and a verb.  Thank you
