How to divide course into lessons
Hello everyone,
I'm new here and could use some assistance. I started using Articulate four days ago and am currently in the process of creating my first course. However, I've made several beginner mistakes.😑
At the beginning, I didn't realize how extensive the course would be and failed to prepare a clear plan for its layout. I initially developed four lessons, along with a test and a quiz (which was way too much content).😝
While working on the first lesson, I realized that my course was becoming too large for a start. I decided to transform Lesson 1 into a complete course, which seems okay. Now, I have the entire course within a single lesson.😞
Is there a way to separate parts of one lesson into several different lessons, other than manually copying and pasting or starting from scratch? Any help would be greatly appreciated!😀
Thank you in advance.
Dejan
Hi DejanM!
Welcome to authoring in Articulate 360!
It sounds like you're referring to Rise 360. If so, another community member shared steps for dividing a large Rise 360 course into separate lessons. Please let me know if you have any more questions!

It's nice to see that Steven linked to an earlier reply of mine.
Here's the gist for dividing an existing course into multiple lessons: Use Block Templates (https://access.articulate.com/support/article/Rise-Creating-Sharing-and-Reusing-Block-Templates ).
- Put all of the blocks that you want in another lesson into a Block Template.
- Create the new lesson.
- Insert the Block Template into the new lesson.
- When you're sure all of the necessary content is in the new lesson, delete those block from the original lesson.

I've used this method successfully, but have also used the Duplicate course option. I recently had built out a course before being asked to divide it, so I simply duplicated the course in it's entirety, and then just removed the parts that were no longer needed from each file.

I described that Duplicate method in the post that Steven linked to. It is how to divide one course into separate courses.
The question in this post is how to "separate parts of one lesson into several different lessons." For that, I think Block Templates provide the easiest solution.
