Hyperlinks to URL within markers

I'm trying to hyperlink the text in a marker to an outside URL. It works when I test it but not once it's published in Articulate Review or as a CD. Will it be different when it's published to the LMS? Is there another issue?

  • Hi, everyone!

I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 73, we’ve included important fixes and new features!

    One fix we’ve included:

Hyperlinks in marker titles didn't work.

To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.

Please let me know if you need additional help!

  • Hi Miriam!

Hyperlinks within the body text area of a Marker caption should work without a problem. To be sure, what version of Storyline are you using?

Are you adding the hyperlink in the header text or the body text area of the marker?

  • Thanks, Miriam. Our team is looking into an issue where hyperlinks in the marker header text area don't work correctly, but hyperlinks within the body text area should work fine.

Do you have a sample slide you can share with me so I can take a closer look? You can click here to attach the file to a new thread comment.

Hi there, Miriam.  It looks like you're experiencing the issue that Alyssa mentioned above.  In the HTML5 output, hyperlinks in the header text of a marker won't work correctly.  The hyperlink in the body text of the marker, however, works in both HTML5 and Flash.

Here's your output - I rebuilt the marker after doing some edits, but the most important difference is that I put the hyperlink in the body text of the marker. Tell me if the body hyperlink text works for you.  You'll have to click the marker to get to the body (the headers disappear when you aren't hovering on the marker icon).

I understand the design decision that you're making by having the link available on hover.  To use a marker, for now you can put the link in the body text.  Alternatively, you could use an image instead of a marker and have the hyperlink text appear with a hover trigger for the desired effect.  I hope that helps!

  • Was this problem resolved two years ago? Ich just published a course and the links in the marker (header) don`t work.

Waht can I do to make them work?

    Thanks!

      Hello Marlene!

We are seeing this in Storyline 360 as well so we have reopened this bug report. When we have an update, we'll return to this discussion. Thank you for taking the time to share this with us!

  • Hello Jason and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊

We do not have an update at this time, but I've confirmed that this conversation is linked to our report so that we can share updates with you here.

The current workaround is to be sure that hyperlinks are in the text body of the marker and not in the header area.
