Incorrect progress/lesson completion indicator when new lessons are added to a course
Hi, we are using Rise 360 to create training courses. Recently we have updated a course with new content and noticed that the progress indicators on the left menu are incorrectly reflected for existing users after the update.
Here's an example of an update:
- new lesson added
- Lesson 1
- Lesson 2
- lesson 3
For all users who have completed Lesson 1 already, when relaunching the course after the update, the new lesson would appear as completed already with a checkmark, and lesson 1 that had been completed would show as "not started".
Adding new content at the end after lesson 3 can avoid this issue, however, this is not desirable from training perspective as we would always want our users to complete the new lesson first before existing content. Clearing user progress after each update or creating the new lesson as a separate SCORM course is not desirable either from user experience perspective. Is there any other option to resolve this problem?
Thanks!

Hi,
I'm surprised that the course opened at all after adding a new Lesson before Lesson 1.
Changing the structure of a course in this way that is already in use, will typically result in a "blank screen" condition for returning students, because the old student suspend data no longer matches the new structure of the course.
As your LMS is not producing the "blank screen" condition for course structural changes, the only way to avoid this is to always add your new Lessons at the bottom of the course structure.
This method of adding content to an existing course is also going to produce issues for students that completed and passed the first version of the course.
They will most likely maintain their LMS completed/passed status even though they haven't attempted the new Lessons.
