Is there a way to convert guide mode simulation into test mode simulation?
As long as you recorded your screen in Storyline, that screen recording is there for you to reuse in all of the modes, if you'd like. Go to the Slides tab and click on the bottom portion of the Record Screen button (where it says the actual words "Record Screen"). You'll see your screen recording and you can re-insert it in Test mode.
