Looking for video clips for my "Train-The-Trainer" Course

Hi all,

I am in the process of developing a course on "how to deliver a training." I wanted to include a video clip from a TV show, but I am unable to find the clip on YouTube or find the DVDs at the local library. As a result, I am at a loss!

I was wondering if anyone knew of any movies or TV shows that included samples of training delivery. More specifically, I am looking for multiple clips that embody good and bad examples. Any tips would be a huge help!

Thanks!

Not sure about TV shows, but if you your content can be stretched to movies, here are some classic examples to get you started....

    • Glenngarry Glen Ross - (Especially the  "Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives..." secene)
    • Tin Men -
    • Used Cars -
    • Pursuit of Happyness

Movies work just as well. Pursuit of Happiness is a great one! I am not familiar with others. Are you able to provide a high level description of what the scenes demonstrate? Otherwise, I'll be watching a lot of movies this weekend (which isn't necessarily a bad thing)!

    Hi Ian,

Not sure about Used Cars, but certainly Tin Men and Glenngarry Glen Ross have most of the "iconic" scenes available on youtube for review, that might save you some time.   Used Cars has a ton of sales clichés... think: bad hair, cheap sport coat, hack car dealer. But inside of that you can see some of the classic techniques of closing and overcoming objections.    Glenngarry Glen Ross is perhaps the most polished movie of the three, and among the great scenes is the sales-trainng scene I reference above.  Shows a high powered outside sales trainer/motivator coming in to kickstart sales production.  Tin Men..... what to say?  Good examples, bad examples, desperation closes, underhandedness, competition, funny funny funny.... real charisma between the lead actors.

    Good viewing!

I just found a great clip from the Wolf of Wallstreet titled "Sell me this pen." I love it! Demonstrates how trainers need to be "one of the team," solicit feedback from others and demonstrates WIIFM. The only issue is the vulgar language and I am going to need to crop the scene, because it quickly turns inappropriate in the end.

Or an example of difficult delgates is ricky gevais in the Office.  the poor trainer just gives up in the end!

    Michelle,

Is there a particular episode you are referring to? I know of the Office but never watched it personally.

I remember experiencing live TV that contained diverse content and things, it was called tvstreamkostenlos and it was quite easy to use and optimized everything.
