Major AI Assistant Workflow Friction in Rise 360: Impact on Recent Updates
Hi E-Learning Heroes Community & Articulate Team,
I am sharing feedback regarding the recent updates to the AI Assistant features in Rise 360. Even as a certified user, these recent changes to the interface and functionality have introduced major friction into my authoring workflow and are severely slowing down production:
- Top AI Menu Toolbar Restrictions: The main AI toolbar button at the top is now only Update text across your course or for specific lessons or blocks. Previously, this button opened a comprehensive drop-down list featuring all available AI actions in one central location. Now, that list is gone, and those options have been scattered throughout different areas of Rise. Instead of having a single, efficient menu, I now have to hunt through the entire interface just to find tools that used to be readily accessible in one place.
- Block Background Image Swapping Glitches: Swapping out the default mountain background visual on blocks has become frustratingly unreliable. It often takes multiple attempts, rather than a single attempt like prior, to replace the generic mountain photo with a custom image when setting up background visuals for block components.
- Reduction in Generated Image Variations: The AI image generation tool now yields only a single image option per attempt, down from the four distinct variations we used to receive. Storyline still provides four generated image options to choose from, but Rise 360 now yields only a single image option per attempt. This reduction requires repeatedly generating images from scratch, making the search for appropriate visuals far more time-consuming. Getting four options previously allowed us to quickly compare compositions and select the best fit.
- Loss of Image Prompt History: The system no longer saves, displays, or retains the AI prompt used to generate an image. Previously, we could easily open an existing generated image, view the exact prompt, and copy/paste it to adapt for subsequent images. Articulate needs to add prompt history retention to Rise and Storyline for images so we can iterate on past prompts and keep generated images aligned with the same brand/theme family across a course.
These changes are directly impacting authoring speed, visual brand consistency, and daily productivity.
Has anyone else encountered these friction points or found effective workarounds?
I strongly urge the product team to consider restoring prompt history retention, four-option image generation, and the centralized drop-down menu for AI toolbar controls.

On the dashboard, I think they need to make it clearer 4/5 of these options use credits.

Only generating one AI image at a time is probably due to more users now using this feature and impacting their server resources. Lots of other systems only generate one at a time.
Hi HVfb0f498d-053b,
Thanks for weighing in! The move to a single generated image wasn’t related to server load. It was an intentional change so you can go directly into editing and fine-tuning the image.
And just to clarify the credit piece, those artifact types don’t use credits on Articulate 360 AI accounts, so selecting those options won’t deduct from your credits.
Hi AmEy_Michelle,
Thanks for laying this out so clearly. I can see how these changes are adding extra steps to your workflow.
A few things I can clarify:
AI toolbar: The change is intentional. The previous AI Assistant menu was retired, and those actions are now available throughout Rise 360. I hear you that having everything in one place worked better for your workflow.
AI images: We intentionally moved from four images to one so you can go directly into editing and fine-tuning the generated image. You can also select Try Again to generate another. That said, your feedback about how comparing four options helped you find the right composition faster is helpful context.
Prompt history: This is coming back. I don’t have a timeline to share yet, but we know how useful those prompts are when creating a consistent set of visuals.
For the background image swapping, replacing an image shouldn’t take multiple attempts. If you can share a quick screen recording of what you're seeing, we’d be happy to take a closer look.
Thanks again for the thoughtful feedback!
Going off of this, the images that the AI image generator produces are absolutely horrible. They are now completely unrealistic looking and when I try to ask for minor changes it frequently either does not make the change I requested (even though it claims it did), or it makes bizarre changes. For instance, it adds additional limbs that sprout out arms. It changes skin tone so it looks like someone is wearing white paint on their face. It adds in people when I didn't ask it too. It overly exaggerates and changes postures and expressions when I asked for a different change. The list goes on. I am finding this completely unusable right now and have wasted so much time it is incredible. What is going on?

I was using yesterday. I ask for icons to be on a plain white background it ignores. I ask for a minor change, to a set of 7 buttons, it introduces a new button, no idea where it got the new button text from. It says its done something when in actual fact its made things worse or done nothing. The feedback is often also non sensical and completely unrelated. Its an amazing tool but is like an unruly child.
