May 27, 2025 (Build 3.100.34725.0)

Anyone having crashing issues with the latest update? I was running along smoothly (April 29, 2025 (Build 3.99.34516.0 and prvious) for weeks until this update, now crashes almost every hour, no rhyme or reason.  I have plenty of horsepower and SSD drives (built for After Effects and Premiere).

Thanks and enjoy the day!

  • Hi PaulOlsen-5414e!

Sorry to hear you're experiencing crashes, when authoring in Storyline!

I have some follow-up questions to help me understand your setup a little better:

    • Are you working with locally-stored .story files? Working off of a network, or shared drive may introduce latency or unexpected behavior.
    • Have you tried a repair of your Storyline installation to see if that corrects the issue?
    • Are the crashes specific, to a particular project file? Also, do the crashes occur during a certain time in the authoring process (previewing, publishing, etc.)?

If you're comfortable sharing one of the affected .story files, we'd be happy to take a closer look. Feel free to upload that here in the discussion or privately through a support case.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

  • Hey Steven,  I'm still experiencing crashing, now to the point where it just doesn't work.
    I'm running Win 10 Enterprise. 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-11950H @ 2.60GHz   2.61 GHz. 64 GB RAM.  files are local on 1 TB SSD with 400+GB free.

I do not have Admin privileges so can't run a repair, will have to call that in (uffda!). Will probably uninstall and reinstall next. Would like to go back a April version which ran fine (go with gut and never install latest update), but have gotten too far along with new.  Have a feeling it's related to new accessibility function that I'm not using, seems to be the only new thing ...

It seems to crash on save almost all the time now.  I did save a new version (file name/date), then redid the changes from previous crash, plus a few more, but crashed on new save.  Also crash on another project file, so not file-specific.

I am not having any issues using other memory-intensive software like Adobe After Effects, Premiere, Audition, yadda,

as well as large Techsmith Camtasia files.

    I cannot share file.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Steven,  As I hopefully wait for another crash to miraculously correct itself (not likely with red "Not Responding" in Task Manager - have to kill it, I didn't think the previous version would open files created in the newest version, is that not the case?  Thanks for your quick responses, appreciated! Enjoy the day!

      Hi PaulOlsen-5414e!

      Thanks for following up!

Storyline authors can indeed open new .story files in older versions of the program. However, any new features that have been added during updates will not be supported, if they were used in the current versions' build. The behavior reported by Articulate-Team is not typical, and we currently have it logged as a bug in Storyline 360 version 3.100.34725.0.

Also, I'd like to connect you with our support engineers, so they can work with you directly on the frequent crashing issue. I've opened a support case on your behalf, and you're in great hands troubleshooting with them!

We can continue the conversation through your case to keep all information in one spot.

  • Hi all,

I've just experienced a very concerning issue. Not only is Storyline crashing and elements disappearing, but when I realized the version might be the problem, I tried opening the project in version 3.99. I received the following pop-up message:

This project won't open because it uses features that aren't available in this version of Storyline. The features in use are:
    ⚠️ Corner Radius
Install the latest Storyline update to open this project.

This is highly unusual—upgrading to a new version should not completely prevent the use of a previous one. This is significantly impacting my work, as we’re currently unable to use the tool effectively, and version 3.100 is presenting multiple issues.

Please avoid upgrading unless you're absolutely sure it's stable, and be aware of the compatibility limitations. Please avise.

      Hi Articulate-Team!

Sorry to hear you've been affected by this issue!

I can confirm we have this behavior logged as a bug in Storyline 360, version 3.100.34725.0.

      • Saving an existing .story project containing a Rounded Rectangle, causes the Corner Radius feature error to be sent when it shouldn't.

I've linked this discussion to the bug report so we can notify you as soon as a fix is in place. In the meantime, I've opened a support case on your behalf so you can connect with our support engineers directly for a workaround. I've also sent an e-mail to your inbox, containing an upload link you can use to share your affected .story file, privately with our team.

Let's continue the conversation through your case to keep all information in one spot.

    Hello,

I am also experiencing all the bugs listed above.  Very difficult to get any work done with this new version.  I can not use previous versions any longer as the user above mentioned.

  • Hi! I haven't experienced the program crashing YET, but I am noticing it is taking up significantly more memory than before and running quite slowly. I have also noticed deleted triggers staying in the trigger pane, objects that have been copy/pasted on multiple slides auto resizing and changing their position (uniformly), states are a mess and jump around to different positions, and the work space automatically jumps sizing/positioning when clicking to edit text in shapes (leading to accidently moving other objects). Overall the May release is so troublesome in it's performance that I had to cancel an update to our entire organization, but I'm stuck dealing with these glitches.

      Hi EmvicaCash-e036,

We appreciate you sharing your experience with our team!

I've opened a support case on your behalf and sent over an initial email to begin troubleshooting. We can continue the conversation there!

  • Hi, everyone!

I have some great news to share! We just released a new version of Storyline 360 (Update 101), which included a fix for this issue:

    • Saving a project created from an earlier version of Storyline that included a rounded rectangle caused backward compatibility issues.

To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find step-by-step instructions here.

Please let us know if you have any questions by posting here or reaching out to our Support Engineers directly.
