We’ve got news that we think will be music to your ears—you can now add background audio to your Storyline 360 courses! Thanks to this highly requested feature you can set the right tone for your training and keep learners engaged by adding a list of audio tracks that play in the background. And to give learners control over the experience and ensure it’s optimal for everyone, they can toggle background audio on and off as needed. Check out this article to learn more about this new feature: Storyline 360: Background Audio.

I have successfully used this feature in the past, but am working on a course today and the background audio is not dimming when voice narration begins. I have adjusted the "lower background audio volume when slide plays" option to 99% and it is not making a difference. Is this functionality broken at the moment?
Hi Crystal!
It sounds like you hit a snag with the dimming of background audio in your Storyline 360 course. I'd be happy to assist with that!
Testing the behavior on my end (64-bit Storyline 360 version 3.83.31444.0 via Windows Parallels on a Mac M1) I can confirm the dimming is working as expected.
You mentioned setting the audio opacity to 99%. However, you would need to choose a lower number to notice the dimming behavior when voice narration begins. In the example I shared, I set the value to 10%.
If you're still running into trouble after changing that setting, I'd be happy to take a closer look at your .story file. Feel free to share a copy here in the discussion or privately through a support case.

I would like multiple playlists to use in my courses. For example, i want playlist A to play for one scene, and playlist B to play for another, but i cannot figure out how to save and access multiple playlists.
Hi Beverley!
Happy to help with this!
We are currently tracking a feature request to give authors the ability to create multiple playlists for Background Audio in Storyline 360. I've included your voice in the feature report so you can be notified if it makes it onto our feature roadmap!
Have a great rest of your week!

Any chance of adding the ability to set the initial volume of the audio?
Hello Darren!
This isn't currently an option, but I've shared it with our product team to see if that is a possibility! I'll keep you updated in this discussion.

I love having the background audio option and the trigger to play/pause it as needed. Do you see adding an option to switch playlists or switch tracks within a playlist so that different scenes can get different background audio?
Hi Mark,
We don't have this in our product roadmap so I went ahead and filed it as a feature request. Here's a quick look at how we manage requests for your reference!
