New Rise Feature: Sidebar Visibility
Hey Everyone,
We released a new feature to Rise today that allows you to set sidebar visibility.
You can now choose to:
- Set the sidebar to be open at course launch (default)
- Set the sidebar to be closed at course launch
- Remove the sidebar completely from the course
Check out this 90 second video for the details:

In Course Settings > Navigation > Siebar "Choose how the course sidebar is initially displayed" the switch is set to Open -- but the Sidebar is not displaying on my screen.
Please assist.

Hi Kevin,
I’m sorry that you aren’t seeing your sidebar.
Can you send me a copy of your course and I can take a look? Here’s how:
- Open the course from your Rise dashboard.
- Click Share in the upper right corner of the screen and copy the shareable link. (You have the option to protect your course with a password.)
- Share the link here. And if you set a password for it, let me know.

Hi Martika,
Here’s the sample course I made up for self-learning.

I don’t see how to turn on the sidebar. Any help you can offer is appreciated!

I share Marcia's observation.
On a small device like an iPhone, the sidebar becomes available only through a hamburger icon in the top left of the first page. If the user scrolls down the page, the hamburger scrolls off, and the user has to scroll all the way back to have access to the hamburger.
Is there a way to either jump to the hamburger from anywhere lower in the screen (once it has scrolled out of visibility), or set the hamburger to a "floating" mode, where it will stay accessible.
Thanks
Robert

To me, it would make sense for the menu to be "sticky." That way, it sticks to the top of the screen while the user scrolls, similar to the EXIT button (if you use this option in the LMS export).

Yep, that would work just fine.

Yep, that would work nicely.
Thanks for chiming in, Edgar and Anthony! We'll keep our eyes out to track momentum around this request.

Hi Tracy,
Thanks for the idea! That's not currently an option for the sidebar menu, but I know we've heard similar requests. We'll share your screenshots with our team for consideration!

Hi Admins - For compliance purposes, when we create an eLearn, then the learner should not be able to go back into the course from the final assessment, and come back to where he left off - which is something the learner can do currently in Rise. And we are not able to use this tool to create compliance courses for this reason. Is there any way to prevent the learner from accessing the sidebar from the FA, and keep it accessible from other modules? Thanks!

Has the option to set the sections collapsed at opening been added? For a long course, it would be great to have the side bar open in that default position, allowing the user to expand the lessons in under each section (or better yet, remember the state when the user ends the session....)
Hi Marc. No changes at this point, but we have this feature documented. We'll let you know if that changes.
Hi Archana,
While you can turn the sidebar off for the entire course, there isn't a way to turn it off for a specific lesson.
Is it possible to create two separate courses: one with all of the lessons, and one with the standalone quiz?

Is it possible to click on image and user jump to a specific part of course ?
Hi there, Steven!
While there's not a way to hyperlink an image to a particular block or lesson, you can insert a button block and set it to jump to a particular lesson.
I'll let our team know that an image hyperlinking feature would be helpful for you!
