NVDA reader

Hello everyone

I'm prepairing myself to build the first training compliant with the WCAG 2.1 standard (Articulate 360; Polish language). However, I have problem with reading the training by the NVDA reader. The reader reads the player in a strange way, as if reading items that are encoded somewhere and not visible on the screen. In addition, it doesn't read text on the layers. Do I have to make any special settings before I start to build course? I set the focus order, alternative text, I chose the language. I am posting demo scorm package. I hope you will be able to help me? Thank you in advance.

  • Hello Piotr!

I'm happy to help! I've tested your course using Google Chrome and NVDA, and I didn't notice NVDA reading off anything that wasn't on the Player. It read off the Menu, Slide Titles, Volume button, Settings button, and Navigation Buttons.

You can see my test here.

If you see something different on your end, I'd recommend making sure the Storyline 360 and NVDA are both up to date. Please let me know if you have additional questions!

I am having a similar issue of NVDA not reading text on slide layers. Is there a specific action needed (e.g. key stroke, etc.) for NVDA to pick up text on layers?

      Hello Carrie!

I'm happy to help! Are you using NVDA's keyboard shortcuts? You should hear the text on the slide layers when using the arrow keys.

If not, please let me know, and I'll be happy to take a look at your project!

Thank you for your reply! This resolved my issue. Using "insert + down button" triggered the screen reader to read layer information.
