PC Cursor disappears
I can begin a work session with SL, can see the cursor just fine. At some point, the cursor vanishes when I'm over any SL window. If I take the cursor over any other software, it re-appears.
Anyone else experience this and has a fix? Thank you in advance!
I'm using the latest version of SL 360 on a ThinkPad with:
12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-12950HX 2.30 GHz
128 GB (128 GB usable)
Windows 10 Enterprise
Hi JohnJohnson-6a8,
Thanks for reaching out!
I'm happy to help troubleshoot and have a few clarifying questions to start.
- Does this happen in multiple files or a specific one?
- If only one file, you can try importing your slides into a new Storyline project
- Does this happen if you view the course on a desktop computer?
A Storyline repair typically fixes unexpected behavior. If the issue persists, it would be helpful to see a screen recording of what you're experiencing. You can upload that here or privately in a support case, and we'll delete it from our systems once troubleshooting is complete!

With the aid of IT, Storyline was re-installed. I have not had a chance to dive back into that project because another project has taken priority.
Interesting that the disappearing cursor issue didn't happen right away. My first impulse is to suspect resources being hoovered up. I keep my assets just large enough for the "stage" area - perhaps a bit larger, if I need to make that asset larger.
Are there hard limits for Storyline in terms of file size of project and of assets used which can impact cursor display?
EDIT: also, trying to "Like" your answer; site doesn't appear to be accepting it.
Thank you
Hi JohnJohnson-6a8!
Glad to see Kelly has been helping you!
Sometimes large Storyline projects may affect publishing times, but I haven't seen them cause many issues with mouse cursor behavior. Also, your system specs are well in line with Storyline's system requirements. Do you encounter the issue with your cursor in smaller .story projects as well?
It's helpful to keep in mind that working off of a network, or shared drive may cause erratic behavior in the tool. Therefore, we suggest conducting your authoring on your local drive.
However, if you're still running into this issue after the repair of Storyline, please connect with our team through a support case. We'd be happy to continue troubleshooting with you!
