Preventing the player from freezing when opening or switching to another tab
Hello everybody
I really need your help. I am trying to figure out if it's possible to modify my player, so that when the user is taking my course and opens a new tab in the same browser the player does not stop, but keeps going. So for instance, if the user is watching a video in the course and decides to open or switch to a new tab, the video keeps going on and the user can still listen to the video whilst browsing the web. Is that possible? I have not found anything yet!
I'm using Storyline 360

Hi Team RDL,
Having a course keep playing while browsing in a new tab would be a great idea for a feature request and others think so too! A request has already been submitted for this. This conversation is being linked to that request, so if it makes it onto our feature roadmap, we’ll make sure to update you!
Thanks for reaching out!

Hi John thanks for the reply, so let me get this right. At the moment is not possible to prevent the player from freezing when opening a new browser tab, am I correct? Thanks for the updates!

Hi Team RDL,
That is correct. There is no way to prevent the player from stopping when opening a new browser tab.
If there's anything else you need, please don't hesitate to ask!

Hi John, thanks for you reply. I also wanted to ask if there is a way to prevent a video or a storyline import from stopping when opening a new browser tab with Rise 360? Like when starting a video on Youtube for instance?
Thanks

Hi Team RDL,
Thanks for the follow-up question! Are you talking about having to click a play button to start a video in a new browser? If that's the case, it's because some web browsers, including Google Chrome, no longer allow videos to auto-play. Here's an article with more about that!
I hope this helps!
