Problem with playing sounds repeatedly

I have a really strange problem.

I am creating a minigame for a test course for my students and found a strange behaviour.

When you answer right, a layer with a "Right Answer" is shown. Then, there I have a  variable called 'sonidomal' which goes from 1 to 4, and depending on the value, a different sound is played. (sound1,sound2,sound3,sound4.wav...I have 4 different sounds, which makes it sound really cool)

The problem is it works perfectly...for the first loop. Once the variable starts over from 1, the sounds don't play anymore, I mean, sounds only play once.

I have just tried creating a button that plays one of those sounds after every click, and it seems to have a long delay of 3 seconds to play the sound again. So if I click quickly, I just get one sound every 4-7 clicks...

Is there any way to override this issue? Will I have to use only one sound because Storyline can't handle repeating sounds?

  • Agree with Sam, if an audio is playing and is triggered it will not play again because storyline believe it is playing. sometimes easier to put the audio on a layer and control it that way, are the audio files playing consecutively?

  • Hi there, have you tried using a Stop media trigger before you Play media. This might help as it stops the target audio file and resets it back to the beginning. The issue may be that when you try and play the media again it has not reset to the beginning of the audio file.

Yes, I found that solution suggested by someone some years ago, and it worked. I don't think it's the most polite way to solve it, but it works, so...
